Commodore Perry's Expedition to Japan 1853-1854: Hawaii History Blog Site

In honor of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, we've introduced a new Hawaii history blog site.

This particular one focuses on Commodore Perry's 1853-1854 expedition to Japan. Our history blog site focuses on Hawaii perspectives on the opening of Japan to the world.

This history blog site will occasionally updated and developed. As always, History Education Hawaii, Inc., the official 'council' in Hawaii of the National Council for History Education welcomes your interest and thanks all of our friends and volunteers for their support and aloha.

E Komo Mai! Welcome to the Hawaii History Blog Project!

Greetings! Aloha and E Komo Mai!

Welcome to the Hawaii History Blog Project. This is a program sponsored by History Education Hawaii, Inc., the official state council of the National Council for History Education.

This project, like our other programs, help history educators, students, historians and history buffs better understand their connection to history and history education. The blogs featured here were created and are maintained by history teachers, individual and student teams in Hawaii and scholars for public benefit. We at History Education Hawaii hope that this evolving, interactive archive will interest students and teachers in an outside the classroom.

Hawaii-based history educators, institutions, students and historians are strongly encouraged to submit their blog site for listing. Proposals for new subject blogs are welcomed. Please contact us at historyeducationhawaii@gmail.com.
